SAVE BIODIVERSITY SAVE LIFE WORKSHOP AT INTER COLLEGE DHOUNTRI, UTTARKASHI

                                           SAVE BIODIVERSITY SAVE LIFE
                   Workshop organized at Govt Inter college Dhountri Uttarkashi on 19-20 August2011

Rajat Jayanti Vigyan sancharak fellow , Department of Science & Technology Govt. of India 2009-10 Mr.Sanjay Kumar has organized save biodiversity save life workshop at remote area School.
The workshop organized with catalyzed and support of  RASTRIYA VIGYAN AVAM PRODHYOGIKI SANCHAR PARISHAD (RVPSP) Department of Science & Technology G.O.I New Delhi.
The region is rich in natural resources and showcases a variety of flora and fauna. It is also the home for various rare species. Different places in the Himalayan regions have unique characteristics.At present the scenario is changing quite rapidly and it is quite different as people have started realizing their responsibility towards nature, its preservation and growth. Our aim to organize this kind of workshop at schools and colleges is to ignite zeal toward science and nature  conservation.

It is first Time in history of this school that any science popularization workshop is organize here, in which not only students but teachers are also benefited.
Mr. S. P Bhatt science teacher of inter college Dhountri helps and support to organized workshop. Mr.Sanjay Kumar (RJVS fellow)Science communicator DST delivered presentation on biodiversity conservation. in his presentation students and teachers enjoyed beautiful photographs of  Rich biological diversity of the local areas. they also enjoyed VIGYAN AAVISKAAR SHORT FILM CREATED BY DST.
Mr. Sanjay gives explanatory speech on biodiversity and told that  Biodiversity refers to the multiplicity of lifeforms which exist on our planet. Three levels of biodiversity are recognised as distinct areas of concern: diversity of ecosystems or ecological diversity, which refers to diverse communities of plant and animals and their interrelationships, diversity of species, which refers to the large number of different kinds of plants and animals and diversity of the genetic poolwithin species which is at the level of genes and chromosomes. It is important to conserve all three types of diversity. he appeal to participants to work in favor of biodiversity conservation.
Mr. Harish Thapliyal (guest lecturer) beautifully explain the location and geographical distribution of alpine pastures, he aware students about the flora and fauna of Garhwal Himalaya.
Poster competition also  organized in workshop on topic "VIRKSH HAIN TO ZEEVAN HAI", In which students express their feelings to conserve nature in form of colors on drawing sheets. Jagdish Rana (class 11), Dharm Singh Panwar( Class 11th )and Km Chetna Rawat of Class 10 obtained first, second and third position in Poster competition  respectively, 5 other got consolation prizes. Principal Mr. R.N Sharma  said in his speech that it is almost forst time that Studetns took part in science workshop he gives his blessings and thanks to Science Communicator Mr. Sanjay Kumar for choosing his College to organized workshop. Principal and Science Communicator distributes Prizes and Vigyan Pargiti to winners of poster competition.
 ..........................at last the workshop ended with the message of SAVE BIODIVERSITY SAVE LIFE 
   प्रकृति को बच्चो की तरह प्रेम करें क्यूंकि वो  माँ की तरह हमारा पोषण करती है - संजय !!

Devkund (Dayara) region is enrich with the white Burans scientifically known as Rhododendron chrysogenum. This is the poisonous Species of Rhododendron, Found in high altitude region approx 8000ft to 12000ft. Plants of this species is much dwarf as compare to Red Rhododendron.

उत्तराखंड देव भूमि अनेको प्राकृतिक  संसाधनों से समृद्ध है 
Yes ! Uttrakhand is biologically rich state. Various and thousand species of flora and fauna are easily observe here, but due to human intervention and unsystematic  use of natural resources this going to extinct,
knowing this we organized 5 days Hareet pathshala workshop(green classes) at very remote biodiversity rich region - DAYARA BUGYAL located around 10000ft height. The program especially design for Gujjar's family residing there with their livestock. Our aim to organize this kind of workshop is to aware Gujjar population for sustainable utilization of Natural resources,& conservation of pastures biodiversity.
We also taught them very basic things related to their daily need  like ; First aid kit, Water pollution,
common diseases, water loss and soil erosion due to heavy grazing.
We also provide  scientific literature,books,painting materials to children's and taught them basic Maths, Hindi,Science etc. Overall the program was highly successful and achieve its goal, with the catalyzed and support of Department of science and technology -DST, Govt. of India, Government P.G.College Uttarkashi,and tremendous enthusiastic participation of Gujjar's.
We also learn and note down Gujjar's Ethno-botanical knowledge about plants. The workshop organized in month of June 2011 from 12june to 16 june. This program was organized by Mr. Sanjay Kumar, RAJAT JAYANTI VIGYAN SANCHARAK FELLOW, DST GOVT .OF INDIA
